counseling to get past a great loss

Sometimes things can get to be more than you can handle. I know this from my own personal experience. I suffered a great loss and after a year of trying to cope with that loss on my own, I knew that it was time for me to reach out for some help. I was missing work, didn't want to do much of anything and just didn't feel like myself. I started seeing a counselor each week, and it has helped. If you are struggling to recover after a loss, this blog may be able to help you find the help you need to get past it.

Which Treatment Is Best For Your Troubled Teen?

by Jessica Mason

If you have a teenager in your home who is troubled, you may find yourself in a position where treatment is ideal. This presents you with a serious question: which type of treatment is right for your teen?

While it can seem overwhelming at first, this question may be simpler than you think. It is important that you consider the different treatment options available. These are some of the treatments you might consider.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is a great option for many teens who do not pose a danger to themselves or others. Outpatient treatment allows a teen to live at home but come in for treatment. This is a better idea for those who have behavioral or emotional issues and who will be able to get to treatment regularly.

For many teenagers, outpatient treatment is a great option because it allows them to continue going to school if necessary. It also allows for your teenager to use the things they have learned in treatment at home. For example, they can put communication skills into action right away.

When your child attends treatment, they will go to therapy, both individual and group. You may also attend therapy as a family. Your child may also be prescribed medication that can help with behavioral issues.

Residential Treatment

Residential treatment involves living on-site at the treatment facility. This is a good option for teenagers who may be a danger to themselves or others. It can also be a good option if you have already tried other options, but they did not seem to work.

There are actually a few different types of residential treatment options for teens. You might consider an inpatient facility, for example, which is more intensive. Inpatient facilities do not allow your child to leave. Your child will live on the campus full-time.

Then, there are group homes, which can be a bit more lenient. They allow your teenager to live with others who are also going through difficulties. They will take part in a lot of support groups and learn to live with a community. Often, teens live in these group homes after they have tried inpatient facilities.
